Young Prisms - Breathless / Friends For Now / If You Want To (Cake Shop)

One more quick update before we head out to tonight’s various showcases. As you might know, we attended last night’s (unofficial) CMJ showcase presented by Kanine Records, Gorilla vs. Bear, and Forest Family Records. We were there to see Marnie Stern but ended up staying for most of the show, and caught some fantastic acts, including San Fran shoegaze noisemakers Young Prisms, who put on a solid and fluid performance which was highly memorable. Perhaps it was the copious dank, the dim and dreamy lighting, or the fact that the Prisms created a tremendous wall of sound that enveloped our senses, but their music impressed upon us in a big way. Major props to the organizers of this event who put together the most solid lineup of musical acts we’ve seen yet at CMJ. Also big ups to our boy Luke who runs the phenomenal DIY venue The Pyramids where this show went down. We all got such great vibes from this show, and it was uncommonly great to meet some of the attendees, who with total lack of pretension talked to and chilled with us and overall made our night great.
